Happiness Triggers
Scott Adams suggests we've been looking at happiness all wrong. Rather than happiness coming solely from within, Adams proposes using your environment as a "user interface" for your brain. He discovered his personal happiness formula requires completing at least two of his "Big Three" daily: exercise, sex, and productive work.
This pattern isn't coincidental—these activities connect to our biological mating imperatives, which evolved to reward behaviors that promote species survival. When we engage in activities related to mating, providing, or signaling genetic fitness, our brains reward us with happiness. The solution is surprisingly straightforward: identify your personal "Big Three" happiness triggers, then deliberately incorporate them into your daily life to transform bad days into good ones.
